Junior Web Software Engineer
Looking for a role where you can build out your Clojure skills? Want to work in an exciting startup environment where you’ll make a real and direct impact?
Metail is looking for a Junior Web Software Engineer to work on back-office web applications and APIs. You’ll join the team to create new web applications in Clojure using Ring, compojure and hiccup or enlive, with state stored in MySQL. You’ll work alongside our senior developers to implement RESTful interfaces, with our products team to help refine requirements, and interact with our staff and partner staff, i.e. your users. Your systems will also be used by our live product, so performance, robustness, scalability, monitoring etc. are also important. This role is ideal for someone with web programming experience who is looking to strengthen their functional programming skills.
Our teams run a variant of ScrumBan, with a strong emphasis on quality through code review. We find this system allows us to have particular areas of expertise whilst sharing responsibility for schedule, code quality, production and user support.
- Degree or equivalent programming experience
- Interest in one or more of Clojure, Scheme (or some other Lisp), and / or a functional programming language
- End-to-end webapp development including DB, middle tier and HTML/CSS production
- Experience working in a small and agile team is preferred
The role is based in our central Cambridge offices with opportunity for limited but regular remote working.
