Metail are seeking an experienced and versatile leader and outstanding people manager to take on the strategic, tactical, and day-to-day running of our studio and digital operations team.
You’ll be joining at an exciting time as we continue to develop and explore new approaches to delivering ecommerce imagery and virtual garment digitisation in the fashion and retail industries whilst scaling our operational and delivery capabilities.
Leading a team spanning our photography studio, garment digitisation, service delivery, quality control, and supplier management you’ll be exposed to every aspect of our company from the outset, and as a small company we really value your operational experience, expertise, and insights.
This is a senior management role based in London. You will be responsible for:
Setting and managing strategic operational and company goals as part of our leadership team
Developing and sustaining a strong, high-performing, resilient, cohesive operations team
Supervising and managing all operations staff - including recruitment, line management, coaching, mentoring, personal development, and performance management
Leading change across the team to deliver outstanding operational performance, scaling and cost improvements
Working with customers to ensure the best possible outcome for all parties
Reviewing and managing supplier contracts, financial forecasts, and operational budgets to promote sustainable profitability
Partnering with peers in product, engineering, and sales to inform product direction, delivery priorities, and helping us meet our commercial and cost targets
Through your team, you’ll also be responsible for Supporting, prioritising, and monitoring day-to-day operational activities to ensure client delivery objectives are successfully achieved
Evaluating and improving the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of operational processes and activities - typically by gathering, analysing and interpreting relevant data and metrics
Managing relationships and agreements with external partners and vendors
Providing planning and oversight of our service and delivery capabilities to maximise customer and partner satisfaction and retention
Providing general support to the operations team and across other parts of Metail when required
Collaborating with other teams across Metail and with third party suppliers and customers
Performing such other tasks as are consistent with the general role description
Acting in the best interests of Metail at all times
You have prior experience leading and managing operational or delivery teams
You have significant experience leading and improving the way teams work
You’re an expert people manager and can effectively apply different management and leadership styles as the needs of your team change
You have experience working with offshore suppliers or companies
You’re a credible, authentic, clear, and effective communicator with staff, suppliers, and customers at all levels
You have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and know how to motivate and get the best from everyone around you
You’re as great with reporting, numbers, and metrics as you are with people
You're able to absorb, process and sift important information quickly, and know when to decide/act and when to seek more clarity
Your gut instinct is phenomenal but you help us act on good data, spot what we’re missing and where we can improve
You effectively manage multiple competing priorities and stakeholders whilst ensuring progress is fast and visible
You enjoy occasional business travel (along with the team, you’ll almost certainly be visiting our customer and supplier sites around the world every now and then)
You have experience adopting new technology to improve processes (e.g. automation)
You can engage with the development of tools to improve work and analytics
You’ve worked (and thrived) in a small company or startup environment
You’ve successfully scaled teams and processes and/or are not daunted by the challenge
You’ve worked in the software industry (ideally software product organisations)
You can articulate the value and impact of a strong positive company culture and act as a role model to your team and peers
You have hands-on experience implementing and using lean techniques in digital studio, software, and/or manufacturing environments
You have prior experience working with clothing, retail, styling, or fashion
You have experience delivering ecommerce imagery and working with digitisation teams
